About Me
I spent the first 16 years of my life in Taiwan and then moved to Canada. I studied Electrical Engineering at
McGill University and graduated in December 2017.
Since then, I've been doing online courses, learning and using French, as well as translating and tutoring Mandarin.
Projects & Courses
Hackathon Projects
In November 2016, I attended my very first hackathon - since then, I've been in love with the atmosphere and environment of these events.
I continue to attend hackathons to meet old and new friends and learn from everyone.
- CodeJam 2018 - Upcoming hackathon
- Planning to work with some cool datasets and create an application that makes an impact! Stay tuned for updates.
- do_action_mtl 2018 - Giving online presence to a local NGO
- I applied to this hackathon as a designer last year and was unfortunately not accepted.
I then took online courses in graphic design and UI/UX design and applied again this year. And they decided to give me a chance this time!
- I was selected as the lead designer for this project.
The project's goal was to create a revamped website for a local NGO organization with improved UI/UX and features.
I designed the frontend and implemented the design. Currently making last tweaks for official website launch!
- ImplementAI 2018 - Correcting Exercise Technique with Pose Estimation
- The idea was to create a virtual personal training assistant.
- You would take a picture of your exercise pose (e.g. a squat) and the program will provide tips to help improve your form.
- I created a webpage displaying webcam stream with Flask, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.
- Project details can be seen on the Devpost submission here.
- McHacks 2018 - Favourite Dishes at Restaurants with NLP
- At this hackathon, we wanted to create a platform that tells you which dishes are more popular at restaurants and which ones are usually avoided.
- I integrated the Google Cloud Natural Language API with the Flask application, which is then used to perform actions such as sentiment analysis on text we parsed from Yelp.
- This is actually a project that my teammates and I are still working on to complete.
- BlocHacks 2017 - Information Update Platform for Refugees
- At this social cause hackathon, the challenge was to come up with a solution for outdated refugee information.
- Our solution was to create a platform where people can update their information on the application.
The incentive was that they can have access to important announcements (e.g. certain areas are more dangerous) and information on their family members
(if two people both check-in with the platform, their location would automatically be available to each other) simply by logging in with biometric identification.
- I was heavily involved in product design and I integrated facial recognition to the Django application through the Kairos API as one of the means of biometric identification.
- For more details, you can contact me.
- ImplementAI 2017 - Intelligent Habit Tracking App
- The idea was to have a habit tracking app that utilizes data analysis and heuristics to optimize your habit tracking experience.
- I designed and developed the cross-platform frontend framework with Ionic 3.
- Project details can be seen on the Devpost submission here.
- ConUHacks II - E-commerce Web App
- A flask application using the SAP Yaas API.
- My role was frontend design and development.
- We received honourable mention for best effort in using the SAP Yaas API.
- Project details can be seen on the Devpost submission here.
- DeCODE MTL 2016 - Travel Planning Web App
- First ever hackathon - was very fortunate to be mentored by friendly and talented people from WealthSimple.
- Worked on connecting the NomadList API with the web app.
- (I also won the paper plane throwing competition for my team :P)
